Safiery Solid State Lithium Battery

Remote on/off of Battery

Traditionally, Batteries were controller purely by an electrical isolator. With the advent of a smarter BMS, remote on/off of the battery packs is possible with a remote switch. However, if an inverter or any device that uses capacitors is being activated by the battery then care should be taken to let the battery fully turn on first BEFORE engaging the inverter or pre-charging capacitors. The battery pack has a maximum discharge overcurrent protection of 170 A for 10 s, an instantaneous overcurrent protection of 250 A for 30 ms, and a short-circuit protection threshold of 350 A for 100 μs. The battery pack has been proven to pre-charge at 1A absolute maximum current a 30,000uf capacitor providing this can be done within 2 seconds. If the current is more than exactly 1A or the time more than 2 Seconds the battery BMS will fault.

The battery pack will not trigger pre-charging in standby mode.

Pre-charging is only activated at power-on or after recovery from short-circuit protection.

Connection of multiple batteries for a larger capacity DOES NOT SOLVE THIS PROBLEM Why Multiple Parallel Packs Dont Solve the Problem Even though you have multiple packs, the inrush is assessed battery by battery for safety reasons. They communicate and "handshake" over the 485 bus and if a pack does not pass the inverter inrush: If Pack 1 tries to engage and trips its protection because of the inverter's size, it drops off the bus. Then Pack 2 tries, trips, and drops off. This creates a "popcorn effect" where the slave batteries drop out one by one because none of them individually can handle the massive "thirst" of the inverter's capacitors during that first millisecond.

UNIVERSAL BEST PRACTICE IS:

ISOLATE THE BATTERIES WITH A PHYSICAL ELECTRICAL ISOLATOR TURN ON THE BATTERIES AND WAIT 5 SECONDS ACTIVATE THE INVERTER PRE-CHARGE CIRCUIT. Wait for the required pre-charge time.

TURN ON THE INVERTER.
