Safiery CANbus Alternator Controller

house battery is physically located in a trailer which can be disconnected from the tow vehicle. By using Required Sensors with RBM, no power will be presented to the trailer wiring unless a CAN communication link has been established beforehand with the BMS. Consider also the placement of an ATS (Alternator Temperature Sensor) on the 12v alternator. Doing so will allow the WS500 to control the power demands of the DC-DC converter taking into account the 12v alternator temperature, reducing those demands if the temperature rises above the Alternator Temp Setpoint in the $SCA command. By utilizing CAN based BMS connection, and remote instrumentation of the battery temperature, the BTS can be repurposed for a 2 nd ATS allowing both the 48v and the 12v alternator to be monitored.

Consult details in the selected DC-DC Converter for additional voltage and/or current limits, which may likely be lower than the ASCII command limits shown here.

$CDD: will reply with “AOK;” if the command was processed successfully . However, to assure the changes are STORED and used the regulator must be reset using the $RBT: command after all changes have been made.
